Hypogonadism: Risk Factors

Hypogonadism is usually the result of some other health issue. The following factors could impact testosterone production, causing hypogonadism:

  • older age (being over the age of 65)
  • using certain drugs such as opiate pain medications, NSAIDs, some antifungals and anticonvulsants, prednisone, and anti-androgens.
  • having other medical conditions like:
    • diabetes
    • metabolic syndrome
    • obesity
    • hypertension
    • sleep apnea
    • renal failure
